Which Tooth Whitener Works Best in Ann Arbor?

Dazzling White Teeth in Ann Arbor What is the best professional tooth whitening system to use in Ann Arbor?

There are two types of dentist-supervised tooth whitening systems available in Ann Arbor. In order to determine the best choice for your teeth, schedule, and budget, you need to understand the differences in the systems.

Both systems use a bleaching agent containing peroxide. Ann Arbor dentists who offer professional in-office tooth bleaching use a whitening gel with a high concentration of peroxide. Some Saline in-office tooth whitening systems use a light that causes the tooth bleaching agent to work faster. There are different types of lights including halogen, plasma arc, metal halide and laser; but they all work the same way. When the light is shined at teeth on which the whitening gel is applied, it causes the peroxide to break down into free radicals, which are active oxygen molecules. This process naturally occurs without the light, but the light makes it happen faster. That is why you can get whiter teeth in just one hour.

Most Ann Arbor cosmetic dentists also offer take home tooth whitening systems. Although these procedures take a bit longer to work, they achieve the same dramatic results. For many Plymouth and Belleville clients, this is the most affordable teeth whitening system.

At Gary Sasaki DDS, MS, we offer safe and effective teeth bleaching. Our Ann Arbor cosmetic dentistry patients can’t believe how great their teeth look when they remove the stains and restore the brightness. If you would like to learn why our system is superior, schedule a consultation by calling our office at 734-482-7466.

Advanced Dentistry in Ypsilanti

The world of dentistry continues to advance at a rapid pace. If you have visited a Yipsilanti dentist in the past few years, you have probably noticed the things that make your visit more comfortable, such as the ability to watch TV or listen to music while receiving treatment.

What may not be as obvious are the advances in techniques, tools and materials. Top Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti dentists now use digital computer imaging which is safer than traditional x-rays. Dental technicians can store, retrieve and transmit digital images much easier than was possible with traditional x-ray film.

The use of air abrasion has created the opportunity for drill-less dentistry for cosmetic and restorative dental patients.

Another exciting development in cosmetic dentistry is the CAD-CAM technology that allows Ann Arbor cosmetic dentists to perform restorations in a single visit. The types of procedures that can be completed in one visit include crowns, fillings, inlays, onlays and veneers.

If you need a thorough exam or want to improve your smile with cosmetic dentistry, call Gary Sasaki DDS, MS at (734) 482-7466 to schedule a consultation. During your consultation, you can see before and after photos of some of our smile makeover clients. We would love to help you achieve the smile you have always wanted, and we have the tools, experience and technology to make that happen.

A Beautiful Smile That Lasts In Ypsilanti

A Beautiful Smile That Lasts In Ypsilanti

After Dr. Gary Sasaki and team here in Ypsilanti whiten your smile, you can help ensure that your pearly whites will not loose their splendor! Naturally over time, common staining will occur. To help slow down that process, Dr. Sasaki offers helpful and everyday tips to make your bright smile last.

First, rinse daily with peroxide or mouthwash. Not only do these products improve oral hygiene and cut down on bacteria, but they also have an effect on whitening your teeth. Additionally, there are many over-the-counter mouthwashes with an extra whitening agent which will help prolong your whitened smile.

Another natural teeth whitening remedy is to regularly consume foods and drinks that fight bacteria, such as straight cranberry juice and celery. Doing so reduces the amount of plaque on your teeth which enhances their white appearance.

There are some materials (and daily practices) to avoid because they will stain your teeth over time. These include coffee, tea, soft drinks, red wine, smoking, and even some medications. If you cannot cut these out of your life, simply rinse your mouth out each time after you use them.

We probably don’t need to remind you, but brushing your teeth correctly a couple times a day will greatly help you keep your white smile. You may choose a toothpaste with extra whitening or baking soda to help the process. Proper brushing technique should take you at least two minutes using short brush strokes, paying close attention to the gum line and hard-to-reach areas. Clean the outer surfaces of your upper, then lower teeth, as well as inner surfaces. Finally, don’t forget the chewing surfaces and your tongue. Using good brushing techniques for 120 seconds will improve oral hygiene, and permanent stains will not build up as fast.

As you can see, it doesn’t take too much effort or money to make your whitened smile last. If you have any questions or would like additional tips on how to make your fresh, white smile last, call Dr. Sasaki today at 734-482-7466. And if you haven’t made that teeth whitening appointment yet, with ALL proceeds going to childrens’ charities; check out our website at www.thedentalspa.forgreatdentalcare.com/ Thanks!

Live Better With Dental Implants in Ann Arbor

Ill-fitting dentures cause more problems for Ann Arbor denture wearers than they solve. If you live with loose dentures, you probably regard them as a necessary evil. Though they certainly look better than a toothless mouth, in practical terms they leave much to be desired because they affect two essential activities: eating and talking.

Unfortunately, many frustrated Ypsilanti denture wearers have quit dining in restaurants or engaging in social activities because they are afraid their dentures will slip.

Implant dental procedures at Gary Sasaki DDS, MS in Ypsilanti are allowing former Ann Arbor denture patients to re-engage in life.

Consider the advantages of implant anchored dentures:

  • They are stable because the implant is anchored in the bone.
  • Your denture is fixed, it will not move around in your mouth.
  • They prevent bone loss that typically occurs when teeth are removed.
  • They eliminate the necessity of regular denture relines.
  • They do not irritate gums.
  • No denture adhesive is required.

Our Ann Arbor dental implant bone clients who have replaced their traditional dentures with implant overdentures enthusiastically say that the dental implant cost was more than worth it.

Do you want to eat normally again? What is the value of maintaining your facial shape? Can you put a price on confidence?

If you want more information about dental implants, call (734) 482-7466 to schedule an implant tooth consultation with Dr. Gary Sasaki. Gary Sasaki DDS, MS is located at 1900 Packard Rd., Ypsilanti, MI 48197. We have been providing advanced Ann Arbor dental care for several years.

67 Percent of American Adults In Ypsilanti Have Tried Teeth Whitening

Adults In Ypsilanti Have Tried Teeth Whitening

A recent survey by Mintel/Greenfield Online showed that 67 percent of American adults have tried to whiten their teeth in one way or another. Whether they’ve been professionally whitened by their dentist, or used toothpastes and strips, people across the board see the value in having a white smile. But with all of these people whitening, are they following sound procedures and whitening safely?

Below are a few tips on how you can whiten safely so your smile is not only brilliant, but also healthy.

  1. Get a dental check-up. Let your dentist know if you experience sensitivity when you whiten your teeth. Dr. Sasaki and team are happy to help you prevent potential problems.
  2. Follow whitening directions. They’re not just guidelines… They’re given to help you achieve healthy teeth while avoiding damage.
  3. Do not use whitening products longer than directed. This can result in tooth sensitivity and gum discomfort.
  4. Aim for a natural white. If you whiten too much, your teeth may become translucent or even start to have a bluish tint. If you try to match the whites in your eyes, your smile will look most radiant.
  5. Consider changing your habits such as smoking or drinking tea, cola, or coffee. By limiting the use of these products, discoloration will not be as prevalent.

Most people agree that the very best way to whiten teeth is with a competent dental practice such as The Dental Spa.

From now until June Dr. Gary Sasaki and our dental pratice in Ypsilanti are participating with the Smiles For Life Foundation and Discus Dental (makers of professional teeth whitening products). Not only will you benefit from professional whitening, but all of the proceeds help children in need.
