Cosmetic Dentistry vs. General Dentistry In Ann Arbor

Ann Arbor Cosmetic Dentistry Hello, I’m Dr. Gary Sasaki. Welcome to my Ann Arbor cosmetic dentistry blog. Today’s article focuses on the difference between general dentistry and cosmetic dentistry.

General dentists in Ann Arbor are dedicated to preventing and treating oral disease such as cavities and gum disease. When a problem is diagnosed, let’s say, a cavity between two teeth, a general dentist will assess the best way to restore the tooth involved.

Ann Arbor cosmetic dentists perform elective dental procedures that make a smile more attractive. Cosmetic dentistry procedures available at Gary Sasaki DDS, MS in Ann Arbor include teeth whitening, tooth-colored fillings, dental bonding, veneers, inlays, onlays, and dental crowns.

Some Ann Arbor dentists, like myself, offer both general and cosmetic dentistry procedures. In some cases, there is a cosmetic component to restorative procedures. For example, if a Ann Arbor dental patient comes in after receiving an injury that chipped a front tooth, the tooth needs to be restored to prevent decay. The tooth is also less structurally sound, so it is vulnerable to further damage. In addition, the tooth affects the overall appearance of the smile. Depending on the specifics of the damage, there are several of restorative options. Dental bonding, porcelain veneers, and crowns are all used to repair a damaged tooth.

As you can see, there is not always a definitive line between general and cosmetic dentistry. At Gary Sasaki DDS, MS, my comfortable, friendly, professional and relaxing team provides the full spectrum of preventative, cosmetic and restorative dentistry procedures.

Experienced Ann Arbor dental professionals who perform  general and cosmetic dental procedures can meet all of your dental needs.

If you are looking for a full-service dental spa in the Ann Arbor area, I invite you to come into Gary Sasaki DDS, MS. We are located at 1900 Packard Rd, Ann Arbor. To schedule an oral examination or smile makeover consultation, call 734-482-7466.

Tooth Decay in Ypsilanti?

Ypsilanti Teeth Whitening At the Dental Spa, we restore decayed teeth to create smiles that are both healthy and beautiful. Recent advances in both techniques and materials have made the ‘impossible’ not only possible, but affordable for everyone in Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor as well.

Doctor Gary Sasaki has been restoring teeth for several years. Ongoing training is essential for staying on the cutting edge of the cosmetic dentistry industry.

Decay is the most common dental problem and the second most common disease in the nation (number one is the common cold). If you have one or more teeth with decay, it’s time to take care of them.

Fillings, inlays, onlays and dental crowns are used to restore teeth for our Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor cosmetic dental patients. Even the most basic procedure – filling a cavity – has evolved. There are several types of new materials available including porcelain and composite resin. Each has specific strengths and aesthetic considerations. Ypsilanti patients who replace silver amalgam with tooth-colored fillings love getting the metal out of their smile.

Inlays and onlays are more extensive restorations. There are two types: direct or indirect. Direct inlays and onlays are made in your Michigan cosmetic dental office on the spot and applied in one visit. Indirect inlays and onlays are fabricated in a dental lab. They usually require a second visit but the results are well worth the extra trip.

When a client has a tooth that cannot be restored with an inlay or an onlay, a natural-looking dental crown is the answer. At The Dental Spa, we create dental crowns that blend in perfectly with the rest of your teeth. Let us show you some photos of patients who have received smile makeovers – you will not see any “Chiclet” crowns that stick out like a sore thumb. In fact, you won’t be able to tell which of our dental clients have dental crowns.

The Dental Spa is located at 1900 Packard Rd, Ypsilanti, MI 48197. Doctor Gary Sasaki is currently accepting new patients. Call to schedule an aesthetic dental consultation

Live Better With Dental Implants in Ann Arbor

Ill-fitting dentures cause more problems for Ann Arbor denture wearers than they solve. If you live with loose dentures, you probably regard them as a necessary evil. Though they certainly look better than a toothless mouth, in practical terms they leave much to be desired because they affect two essential activities: eating and talking.

Unfortunately, many frustrated Ypsilanti denture wearers have quit dining in restaurants or engaging in social activities because they are afraid their dentures will slip.

Implant dental procedures at Gary Sasaki DDS, MS in Ypsilanti are allowing former Ann Arbor denture patients to re-engage in life.

Consider the advantages of implant anchored dentures:

  • They are stable because the implant is anchored in the bone.
  • Your denture is fixed, it will not move around in your mouth.
  • They prevent bone loss that typically occurs when teeth are removed.
  • They eliminate the necessity of regular denture relines.
  • They do not irritate gums.
  • No denture adhesive is required.

Our Ann Arbor dental implant bone clients who have replaced their traditional dentures with implant overdentures enthusiastically say that the dental implant cost was more than worth it.

Do you want to eat normally again? What is the value of maintaining your facial shape? Can you put a price on confidence?

If you want more information about dental implants, call (734) 482-7466 to schedule an implant tooth consultation with Dr. Gary Sasaki. Gary Sasaki DDS, MS is located at 1900 Packard Rd., Ypsilanti, MI 48197. We have been providing advanced Ann Arbor dental care for several years.

Questions To Ask Your Ann Arbor Dentist

Questions To Ask Your Ann Arbor Dentist Sometimes we research our Ann Arbor mechanic or Belleville hairdresser more thoroughly than our Ann Arbor dental professional. Shouldn’t your dental care be far more important than the condition of your car or the style of your hair? At Gary Sasaki DDS, MS, we love to answer questions about your teeth. You should be asking your Michigan dentist any question you have about the care and status of your teeth.

For instance, you may have questions about the school of dentistry and dental specialties studied. Though important, dentistry school is not the only place to gain dental experience. Dr. Gary Sasaki has been performing complex Michigan dental procedures since 1971.

You should also be asking about the dentistry specialties your Belleville dentist offers such as tooth restoration, braces and lumineers. These services may not be important to you now, but it is a good idea to have an understanding of your options, and to know what your Belleville dentist has to offer.

If you are contemplating smile restoration, tooth implants, or tooth whitening, evaluate Belleville cosmetic dentistry options with your dentist. Look at before and after pictures, and ask your Belleville dentist what procedures may be right for you.

General dentists offer a variety of Belleville dental services such as tooth extractions and tooth fillings, and can treat every member of the family. At Gary Sasaki DDS, MS, we specialize in cosmetic and general dentistry, porcelain veneers, dental crowns and bridges and full mouth reconstruction.

You have many choices for your Ann Arbor family dentistry. We welcome questions about all aspects of our Gary Sasaki DDS, MS practice. Visit us at 1900 Packard Rd. in Ann Arbor and talk to a member of our comfortable, friendly, professional and relaxing team.

Ann Arbor Dental Implants and Dental Bridges

Ann Arbor Dental Implants and Dental Bridges

When my patients ask me about Ann Arbor tooth restoration, I usually tell them about fixed (or ‘traditional’) dental bridges or dental implants. A dental bridge is an artificial tooth which replaces a missing tooth. The false tooth (called a ‘pontic’) is fused to porcelain crowns on either side of the missing tooth.

Tooth replacement has been a highly requested procedure at my Ann Arbor dental practice. Patients from the Saline area and Plymouth area have expressed concern about tooth replacement for many years. Most of my questions in the Ann Arbor area have to do with the strength of the tooth replacement, and durability.

Dental implants are also popular concern for my Ann Arbor tooth replacement patients. A dental implant consists of a titanium post surgically inserted into the jaw bone to replace the root of the missing tooth. The post integrates with the bone to provide a stable foundation for the replacement tooth.

After it has bonded with the bone (it usually takes three to six months), a smaller post is attached. This post extends above the gum line. The artificial tooth (crown) is then attached. The entire process takes several months, but consistently yields terrific results for Ann Arbor tooth restoration patients. My Michigan cosmetic dentistry patients appreciate the fact that I stay up to date on the latest advancements in tooth replacement procedures.

Both Michigan smile restoration options preserve or restore facial contour and allow you to talk and eat normally. Tooth replacements prevent adjoining teeth from gradually shifting and can help correct bite problems, too. Tooth implants and dental bridges can replace one or more missing teeth. Many Ann Arbor area dental patients have been treated successfully with these tooth restoration alternatives.

Call Gary Sasaki DDS, MS and ask to schedule an evaluation for Michigan dental implants or bridges. You can schedule your tooth restoration by calling us at 734-482-7466.
